Christiano Family Vineyards had been a dream of its owner, Claude Christiano, ever since he began investing in fine wines about 10 years ago. As a founding partner in Monte De Oro Vineyards in Southern California, he has been involved in growing top quality grapes for about six years. His goal has been to create a small, top quality, boutique vineyard on the North Fork of Long Island.
That goal was achieved a few years ago with the purchase of seven acres of farmland on Boisseau Avenue in Southold. The vineyard is planted in top quality clones of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Grape production is being kept to the minimum level needed to produce top quality, intensely flavored wines. The vineyard is fully irrigated and maintained by Mudd Vineyards, LLC.

The 2004 Merlot, the first release from Christiano Family Vineyards, has been made from premium grapes grown on the North Fork.
Claude and his wife Barbara are residents of Remsenburg, New York on the South Fork of Long Island. Claude retired several years ago as a Vice President and Assistant Treasurer of Pfizer Inc, the world's largest pharmaceutical company. During his career he has traveled throughout the world and had the opportunity to sample wines from all the major wine growing regions and to visit these vineyards and wineries and discuss various differences and similarities in grape growing and winemaking techniques. He has brought this experience to the North Fork where it is being applied at this new vineyard.
